Transport
2006-2007 has seen the progress of many significant transport infrastructure projects within Brisbane city, most notably the North South Bypass project, the Hale Street Link, the Airport Motorway and Northern Busway and the Eastern Busway.
During the year the BDA's Transport Planning Committee focused on:
-
Providing responses to the numerous impact assessment studies prepared for the transport infrastructure projects. This included responding to the Hale Street Link project
- Preparing a draft transport policy paper and assessment framework to guide the BDA Executive's input into future transport policies and projects for the city
- Assisting with organising transport related seminars
- Representing the BDA at various industry briefings and government workshops including the recent Inner City Transport Capacity Study workshops
The recent release of the Smart City Strategy by the State government offers the opportunity for reassessing the most appropriate mass rapid transit network for the city. The BDA is currently encouraging further debate on this important element of the city transport system, particularly in relation to its effect on the future shape of the inner city.
