Brisbane Future Roundtable Presented by
Brisbane Airport Corporation
Brisbane's future was the subject of a frank and open discussion of local visionary thinkers at the Brisbane Future Roundtable presented by Brisbane Airport Corporation on 5 July 2007.
Against the backdrop of a rapidly growing population, worsening traffic congestion, ageing infrastructure, urban sprawl and environmental pressure, the BDA staged the Roundtable to strategically re-think Brisbane's future and identify tangible opportunities to protect Brisbane's livability.
The BDA believes significant change to our city fabric is inevitable, as a consequence of continued population growth and investment throughout the South East Queensland region. The challenge for the region's civic, corporate and community leaders is to face this change in a positive and visionary way. We have moved beyond asking whether the community 'wants' change. The future livability and prosperity of Brisbane will be driven by its capacity to change and change smartly: a shift in thinking is required to look at how we can best 'manage' that change.
The BDA together with Brisbane Airport Corporation (BAC) invited 15 experts who represented a variety of disciplines and market sectors to participate in the facilitated Roundtable.
